This would be comical for how it is written, if her situation wasn't so worrying. Speaks volumes on how China doesn't give a shit about international authorities and consider them too weak and dumb to act, if anyone still had doubts after the last couple of years

Pretty much so, USA just embarrassed themselves in Afghanistan, EU can't handle the immigrant crisis and became a laughing stock after Brexit so China has a free path to become #1 global powerhouse in 15-20 years. They are #2 powerhouse already. China is far & away the biggest long-term winner of the Cold War, USA might have conquered Soviet Union but they failed to acknowledge China growing way bigger than Soviet Union ever was.

The only one in world sport that could make a difference putting out a public statement is IOC.

If China sees there's any risk of a serious boycott or threat on their games they will let her go quickly.

Which won't happen for sorry, maybe this needs big NOCs like USA , Germany, Canada and others starting to refer to boycotting games if nothing serious happened about assuring her safety but I highly doubt also

I think Biden said he is considering a diplomatic boycott (not because of Peng but just in general), although he met with Xi the other day and didn't say anything or even say anything about Covid so who knows.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
