Can someone give UK's Eurosport commentator an atlas? He keeps mixing Burkina Faso with Burundi in triple jump...

Even if he doesn't know what the country is, can he not at least tell it's not Burundi from the flag accompanying Niyonsaba's appearances in the diamond league

Tomorrow's women's heptathlon features "the busiest woman in athletics" Dallyssa Huggins, an insane workhorse here in Canada who has already completed 6 full heptathlons this outdoor season plus at least 2-3 of every event in the heptathlon individually at other meets. She's also ran about 10 400mH races this season too.

Looks like we will win medal in Unviersiade as long as Taekwondo is included :d  in high level we are competive in both Taekwondo and Weightlifting and actually we got better results in WL recently but results here was disastrous (only 1 bronze)  and actually the level of Weightlifting competition was lower than TKD with a lot of world/olympic medalists . while in Taekwondo even a 3rd/4th tier athlete from Iran is competitive. in weightlifting we are very weak outside of our top 10-15 athletes.

Iran won 4 out of 8 gold medals in men's Taekwondo. which is great but I wonder why they didn't bother to compete in team event tomorrow ?! :mumble:

I thought we won't win any more medal but then I noticed Wushu is also in the program, which means there will be few more medals.

    • Italian governmanet issued a statement:   The Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi have issued this joint note:   The Italian Government expresses its absolute opposition to the decision of the Internazionale Paralympic Committee to admit to participating in the Milan Cortina 2026 Paralympics for Russian athletes and four Belarusian athletes with the display of their national emblems, inno compreso.   The Italian government reiterates the dissent already expressed, together with other 33 nations and the European Commission, on the decision of full reinstatement of the Russian and Belarusian Paralympic Committees assumed by the General Assembly of the International Paralympic Committee last September 27, and renews its own full solidarity and its own unconditional support for Ukraine. Ask, inoltre, al Comitato Paralimpico Internazionale to reconsider this decision. The persistent violation of the truce and Olympic and Paralympic ideals by Russia, supported by Belarus, is incompatible with the participation of athletes in the Games, if they do not come as individual neutral athletes.   https://www.esteri.it/en/sala_stampa/archivionotizie/comunicati/2026/02/tajani-abodi-governo-contrario-decisione-comitato-paralimpico-internazionale-sulla-russia/
    • The Canadian who went down with Sighal also didn't advance. There was no advantage for Canada. The only decision was if Sighal would advance, and the official said no. No one advanced. Even if you think it was an unfair ruling, it didn't benefit Canada in any way.    Meanwhile, several Canadians have been penalized throughout the competition, just like every other country. One even got a yellow card. Dandjinou was on his way to a medal, but was bumped in the final and lost. Our women today were bumped by the Koreans and nothing was done. These things happen in short track. At no time did any decision benefit a Canadian, whether you agree with it or not.
    • I think I'll go with 8 this time. Brazil did very well in all sports, except for the girl in Alpine Skiing who, from what I've read, is a DNF magnet. Even so, it's our first participation in Women's Alpine Skiing in years.   As for the organization, honestly, some things have disappointed me, the way they're handling unforeseen events...
    • The Italian federation has issued an official stance – I hope they finally take a closer look at this Hungarian clown. I just hope it's not like someone wrote here, where the former Canadian skater makes the decisions and that Hungarian just announces them.   https://www.fisg.it/short-track-milano-cortina-2026-presidente-gios-grande-delusione-e-amarezza-per-il-trattamento-del-giudice-nei-confronti-di-pietro-sighel/
    • We lost the gold to Korea, but if we were going to lose to anyone, it was them- the country that is the cradle of this sport, not the Netherlands, which only seriously entered the sport eight to last 8-10 years ago and created serial dominators, like in speed skating, track cycyling, etc. I simply can't like their model, where they create athletes for serial victories in 2/3 selected disciplines.
    • https://worldcurling.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2023-The-Rules-of-Curling.pdf p. 45 I think has what you're looking for.
    • By the way, those shot % by position are really interesting.  USA's only standout is their lead, at #1 at the moment, while skip, #2 and vice are 7th, 8th, and 9th respectively among their position peers.   seems USA would hardly have any wins at all without that lead performing so spectacularly.  Maybe that lead should be skip next time.  well, maybe not, I guess it depends on whether his weighted shots are as good as his draw shots.
