Thing is, I not sure how Chinese they are...they mostly seem to have Mongolian names.

Not really. At least those who competed in the World Cup in December seem to have what looks like (for the uneducated like us) a mix between a Mongolian and Chinese name. A logical guess would be they're from areas relatively close to Mongolia, which  think might also be more logical than coming from the big cities like Shanghai. Same thing in speed skating every now and then.

I just searched their information. They are from Xinjiang, most probably Uighur or a little possibility of Kazak. Northern Xinjiang is a good place for skiing and many Chinese skiing athletes are from there. Actually most Chinese winter sports athletes are either from freezing North East or North West(Xinjiang).

Jeez, I notice the Estonians now have twin sisters (I presume; for all I know they could be completely unrelated)  Keidy & Kaidy Kaasiku on the Women’s Tour.

Strange things happening every day: Theresa Johaug is struggling a bit.  Also, a plague of frogs in Falun.

Back into the lead, but is surely going to get scalped on the sprint finish.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
