Warning for the African Boxing Olympic Qualifier: Any South African boxer who advances to the final or the box-off will deny a berth on the Olympic team as the continental routes will not be considered for selection.

Why would they even be in the olympic qualifier then if this path wouldn't get them selection, it's not like this is the african championship

I just don't understand the criteria that hamper the athletes' chances of competing at the Games through the continental route. There might be an appeal anytime soon if the SASCOC rules have permitted on them.

That's just ruining the competition by letting them participate anyway...

In the American qualifier, is there a match for the third position or qualify who lose with the future champion?

There will be box-off match for the semifinal losers.

Exactly. I just don't understand how did they let these boxers compete in the African qualifier, knowing that the NOC has denied selection for the athletes through the continental route. We'll see.

For the women's boxing, what if one of the top two boxers in each division has directly qualified for the Olympics, and eventually, she would finish in the top 4 position at the Worlds, in which that position earned her a place at the Games? What will happen to her place that she earned at any continental qualifying tournament? Assuming that two semifinalists are vying for the unused berth, where only one of them will be awarded.

    • I'll jump on the off-topic with an unpopular opinion - ice hockey isn't so stamina demanding to justify 25 people rosters. And it doesn't have big playing fields like football or rugby for example, where you'd require so many reserves. 15 field players + 3 goalies should be good. Or 18+3 at max. But 25 is too much imo and the constant substitutes are too much as well.
