This is what I dont get. If criquet is going to be held 4.000 KM away from the Olympic Village, why reduce the tournament into a 6 team event?

I get the reduced quotas for LA, but having a 10 team event in New York should be no problem. They should take advantage of having multiple host cities to manage athletes numbers better. Same thing for Softball, that is going to be host in another big city far away from LA....

Because they want to be able to say they they respected the official athlete quota of (whatever the number is). Same reason for not counting alternates that will surely partecipate, it's not a practical matter but a political one.

It's substainability washing.

Is there some kind of delay for the stadium in LA?

I guess New York time is slightly better than LA time for India...

It seems to be entirely driven by time zone issues.

From the IOC's standpoint the whole reason to include cricket in the Olympics is to (vastly) increase the value of the TV deals from India. It isn't to grow the game in the US or w/e.

Los Angeles 2028 Olympic organizers might hold cricket matches on the East Coast, possibly in New York, to suit the global audience, especially Indian fans. The decision is mainly driven by the time zone difference to maximize viewership. The LA28 committee has not yet confirmed the cricket venue, exploring multiple location options.

Must be cool though, if you're from India: basically your country is the one and only reason for an entire sport being in the Olympics, even though it is entirely obvious that it is only for the money (if it was for the sport itself, there would obviously not be a tiny 6-team tournament) :d

What if India fails to qualify? :d

ICC will devise the qualification rules in such a manner that there is very very high chance that India qualifies. I am expecting ranking based qualifications. And no host nation quota.
