As we're slowly approaching Tokyo, I think that we might have three very good medal contenders by then.

Which events?

I completely missed that Shane Perkins now competes for Russia ... when i read "Maximilian Levy won gold in mens keirin ahead of Shane Perkins from Russia", i thought that it must be a mistake ...

Which events?

Simona Krupeckaitė for women's sprint and keirin.

Vasilijus Lendel has been improving immensely in men's sprint and keirin.

Olivija Baleišytė, a medalist of many occasions in youth & junior categories is growing up well for the Omnium and other events such as scratch, elimination race, points race.

Heck, even Miglė Marozaitė is becoming better in sprint and keirin, so we might have a competetive women's sprint team by then.

First time Portugal wins a Senior medal in Track Cycling, and won 2, a silver and a gold (by 2 twin brothers), Portugal has never been represented in the Olympics in Track Cycling so maybe Tokyo 2020 will be a debut!!!

Some very satisfying results making it look very interesting for the future. Hoped for a bit more from the team pursuit, but I'm sure that they'll be ready when we get closer to 2020. Meanwhile it proved that the addition of madison to the Olympics gives us some fine chances. A men's pair should be absolutely sure while the women's pair may not be as clear, considering that Amalie could also very well have a good shot at the RR. But it should be possible for both Amalie and Trine to put up the results for us to have a spot in the omnium.

Bad results for Great Britain, nobody saw that one coming...

It's interesting. Before Rio the story from the GB team was "don't expect too much his time but the young stars in the team will be very fast in Tokyo" :d

Amazing news for our track-cycling today as Vasilijus Lendel wins the men's sprint at the world cup in Chile, beating the 2017 sprint world champion in 2:1 battle.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases

It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
