NearPup 2,339 Posted April 11, 2016 #131 Share Posted April 11, 2016 (edited) This is by far the best women's team I've ever seen Canada put together. I have really high hopes for this summer and 2020. 1 hour ago, JoshMartini007 said: That makes more sense. Not too keen on Darragh, his fly wasn't fast enough and it could cost Canada a spot in the finals. Maybe Kisil or Condorelli aren't planning to take the relay that seriously. The 50 free the same day is probably going to be their focus. Beside, Canada isn't going to make a splash on the medley relay. The focus on the men's side relay wise has to be the 4x100 free. Canada's selection process is indeed clear. They must only achieve an Olympic Qualifying Time and a top finish in each individual pool event to secure their nomination to the Olympic team. Japan and Netherlands have their own Olympic standards in selecting their swimmers. In case they may have not reached the standard, Japanese Swimming Federation has a subjective decision to add more swimmers. For the Netherlands, I don't know yet. China's selection process isn't clear though, so let's just wait further.

JoshMartini007 2,313 Posted April 11, 2016 #139 Share Posted April 11, 2016 We're still waiting for the final word, but here are the following swimmers from the Netherlands which finished below the Dutch Qualification Time at the Eindhoven Swim Meet. Men's 400m Freestyle - Maarten Brzoskowski Women's 50m Freestyle - Ranomi Kromowidjojo Women's 100m Freestyle - Femke Heemskerk, Ranomi Kromowidjojo Women's 100m Backstroke - Kira Toussaint Netherlands has also previously qualified two open water swimmers (Ferry Weertman, Sharon van Rouwendaal). The main things to look for is the composition of the men's 4x200m freestyle relay and women's 4x100m freestyle relay. George_D

Brzoskowski already had the qualifying standard earlier, Toussaint is a new addition Also some new names came up in the women's 200m, which could make the composition of the 4x200 interesting. The 100 free for the women was a bit disappointing in general and so was Verschuren not making the standard yet (he has one chance left at the European champs in London).
