Doping Cases and Bans in 2026

Major doping scandal hits Georgian rugby. However it has more serious implications for Georgian sport in general. Seems like the Georgian national anti doping body (GADA) has been complicit in it, tipping players in advance of testing and not properly observing sample collection standards.

One would have to assume if it’s happening in Georgian rugby and their own national anti-doping agency is involved in it, then surely Georgian sport in general has to be under suspicion.

The International Testing Agency on Friday notified the 34-year-old Egyptian weightlifter Ragab Abdelhay Saad Abdelrazek Abdalla of a positive test for methandienone, following reanalysis of a sample taken during the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. 10 years later, the agency reported this week that reanalysis of the athlete's sample had revealed the presence of methandienone, a prohibited substance.

30% of all currently unfinished Olympic doping cases are to do with Egyptian weightlifters

Not enough money to cover the cases like other countries ? :p
