Pairing for the W 5000m HERE

I think bad luck for Lollobrigida. Sáblíková with her illness maybe will lose one lap :-(

I just woke up. Did Ning win a medal:yikes::hyper:? Obviously, I think he has a better chance of winning a medal in the 1500 - meter event than in the 1000 - meter event.I'm glad that he has picked himself up again in these four years after his poor performance in Beijing.

This would have been my pre-Olympic prediction. Lollobrigida will probably finish higher knowing what we know now. This is always a tough distance to predict with so little 5.000m races during the season.

  1. :NOR Ragne Wiklund
  2. :CAN Isabelle Weidemann
  3. :BEL Sandrine Tas (would be great to see a Belgian female skater win a medal here)
  4. :GER Maira Jasch (German skaters disappointed so far, but I still think she could be the surprise of the day)
  5. :NED Merel Conijn (definitely prefers this distance over the 3.000m, but not sure if she's much better than she was last Saturday)
  6. :WHT Marina Zueva
  7. :CZE Martina Sáblíková (best ever skater on this distance, but not sure how well she is recovered from her illness that kept her out of the 3.000m. I want to remain optimistic in her final international race of her career)
  8. :ITA Francesca Lollobrigida (reigning World Champion and in better shape than expected, so will definitely finish higher)
  9. :NED Bente Kerkhoff (no idea what to expect from her, her team mates (Groenewoud and Conijn) were in poor shape in the 3.000m)
  10. :CHN Tai Zhien
  11. :KAZ Nadezhda Morozova (skated a great 3.000m so she might finish higher, but her 1.000m was underwhelming)
  12. :CAN Laura Hall

Kerkhof is not going to finish 7th, as she’s will not start, due to a back injury
