Am pleased for  - it would have been a tough pill to swallow for Mouat to come away from the Olympics without a medal and then next month to miss out on defending his world title.

I agree, and today's loss definitely isn't the real cause of regret here.

 

Still, specifically because you don't get many chances to capitalize against such an opponent, a mistake like the one Retornaz did late in the 8th end is deadly.

 

I feel like he has consistently underperformed under pressure in these Games, and I feel it has been a bit of an habit in decisive games over the last few years (Italy's track record in the semifinals of major events is quite telling).
