Brazil is now a oficial candidate to host this Cup in 2029.

Probably Brazil and Argentina are the only countries where this cup is being a HUGE sucess.

This tournament is a dress rehearsal of FIFA World Cup replacing the Confederations Cup. So it will be held a year prior to the World Cup and played in the host country. So 2029 Club World Cup shall be held in either Spain, Portugal or Morocco

Lol, a German team, let alone Bayern, to lose on purpose just so they don't play against Chelsea :roflmao: That's some shameful page taken out of volleyball.. Hopefully both of them lose next round.

Boca draw with Aukland, an amateur team from New Zeland.........their decadence is TOTAL.

Yup, this is as bad as it gets hehe.

Btw, what's the deal with Argentine clubs? Brazil has a greater number of teams who can win domestically or continental cups but in Argentina it always seems like Boca and River have little competition (except for Independiente's historical spikes and I believe Estudiantes La Plata used to be relevant but I have no clue how they are doing these days, lol). And I remember Argentinos Jr won the Libertadores once but that was a surprise?

Im surprised about your knowledge about our football league.

Argentina, differently than Brazil, has a big concentration of political, economical, social, cultural etc importance in Buenos Aires, for that reason all the importants teams are from our capital or its surroundings/suburban around Buenos Aires (Independiente and Racing are from Avellaneda, a close place of the Capital).

For that reason you dont have many diferents teams like Brazil when you have teams from all the country, not only San Pablo and Rio Do Janeiro.

Argentinos Juniors in that times has a very good team, Maradona came originally from this team, you have also Racing Club like Libertadores Champions (so many time ago), San Lorenzo won the Libertadores in 2014 for the first (and only) time in history, it was the only of the five big teams of Argentina without Libertadores to that time.

The five big teams: Boca Juniors, River Plate, Independiente, Racing Club and San Lorenzo, they are the top 5 for quantity of titles and fans.

Well, the most important thing is that our 1st division league has 30 teams and the 2nd division 38, with no one promoting or relegating usually so the teams dont play for anything and its hard to keep up the competitive rhythm, thats why the clubs with the biggest power and money are the ones always on the top

Watched all 48 group match highlight videos today, it was surprisingly entertaining :d (and of course anyway it's nice to see rare matchups, much more interesting to see some Argentinian, African or Asian team play a big European team than the 105th time of Juventus - Real Madrid or something)

Now the knockout phase has started with Palmeiras - Botafogo, vamos Botafogo :cheer:

And, as my parents in law have taught me very clearly when they were here some months ago, their favourite saying: Palmeiras não tem mundial :d

Well deserved, honestly, their fans have made quite the noise and party :cheer: (just like those of I believe Esperance de Tunis and Wydad Casablanca, they were awesome too)
