Baseball Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Road to LA 2028

:JPN hasn't been that impressive so I'm expecting

:VEN and :DOM

If :JPN do up their game in QF, :PUR can make it instead of :VEN

All it takes one good innings with the bat and one bad innings with the ball to change the scenarios.

Barcelona :ESP will host one of the WBSC Premier 12 qualifiers (9-11 October). This group will be formed by :COL:ITA:GER:ESP.

The other group in Zhongshan :CHN (26-28 November) will be formed by :CHN:CZE:NCA:GBR.

Top2 of each group will advance to WBSC Premier 12 2027 and Europeans will join :NED:AUS in the fight for one Olympic spot.

Canada didn't even qualify for the qualifiers:whistle:

Canada is currently ranked something like 19th in the world in men’s baseball by the WBSC.

Should have participated in more U12, U15, U18, and U23 tournaments. Not sure why, but they all contribute points to the SENIOR World Ranking list

Help me understand the tie-breaker if all of Canada, PR, and Venezuela lose their playoff games. They'd all be 3-2, but would Canada be ranked higher for winning their group? If not, what is the next tie breaker since Canada/PR did not play Venezuela?

I believe it's that runs allowed over defensive outs calculation

So right now it's :PUR > :CAN > :VEN

We'll have to hope Italy's high offense shows up again while being defensive against the United States

I saw that was the tie-breaker in group play, but it said only for games played against each other (Canada and PR didn't play Venezuela).

Looking at the 2023 WBC, they ranked "lost in quarterfinal" teams by record (but Australia and PR "tied" for 6th with the same record). Then it groups them by placings in their groups (all 3rd place teams together, ranked by final record, all 4th place teams together ranked by final record,etc.). That's what made me hopeful that Canada would place higher than the other two since they won their group. However, they have Venezuela in the same grouping as AUS, PR, and ITA (lost in quaterfinals) even though they won their division.

Anyway, just have to hope for a Canada win or a close defensive loss, I guess. And some help elsewhere.
