the most exciting week of the year for all the baseball fans is coming! :cheer:

 

all the main Baseball Leagues in the world in fact are about to start their Final Series

 

on Friday night, it's MLB World Series time

 

on Saturday, instead, it's NPB Japan Series time

 

and by the end of the week, also the KBO Korean Series will be underway

 

 

MLB has its own dedicated thread, here we go for a recap of the NPB and KBO

 

 

the NPB Japan Series will be played by the Hanshin Tigers (Central League champions, defeated 4 games to 0 the 2024 JS series DeNA Baystars Yokohama in the CL Final Series) and the Softbank Hawks Fukuoka (Pacific League champions, defeated the Nippon-Ham Fighters Sapporo 4 games to 3 in the PL Final Series, after going up 3-0 and being chased until 3 games apiece before winning by a score of 2-1 in game 7)

 

the JS format is best-of-7 series, with the classic 2-3-2 scheme

 

game #1 is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th in Fukuoka @ 6.30 p.m. local time (11.30 a.m. CET, 5.30 a.m. ET in North America)

 

the following games will be played on Sunday, Oct. 26th again in Fukuoka (@ 6.30 p.m. local), on Tuesday, Oct. 28th, Wednesday, Oct. 29th and (if necessary) on Thursday, Oct. 30th in Nishinomiya (always @ 6 p.m. local)

always only if necessary, game 6 and 7 will be back in Fukuoka (always @ 6.30 p.m. local) on Saturday, Nov. 1st and Sunday, Nov. 2nd

 

 

the Korean KBO, meanwhile, has still to determine the LG Twins Seoul opponents in the Korean Series, as the Playoff Series between Hanwha Eagles and Samsung Lions is currently tied at 2-2 (it's a best-of-5 series, game 5 is scheduled for Friday @ 6.30 p.m. local time, 11.30 a.m. CET)

Hanwha Eagles defeated Samsung Lions 11-2 in game #5 of the KBO Playoff and advance to the Korean Series for the first time since 2006 (they only won 1 KS out of 6 appearances so far, in 1999)

 

they will face the RS champions, the LG Twins Seoul (KS champions in 2023, more recently)

 

the 2025 Korean Series (best-of-7 series, 2-3-2 scheme) start on Sunday, October 26th @ 2 p.m. local time (6 a.m. CET, 1 a.m. ET in North America) in Seoul

 

game #2 is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27th (6.30 p.m. local), also in Seoul; meanwhile the games 3-4-5 will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 29th, Thursday, Oct. 30th and, if necessary, Friday, Oct. 31st in Daejeon (always @ 6.30 p.m. local time)

 

if necessary, the series will go back to Seoul for the games 6 and 7, which are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2nd (2 p.m. local) and Monday, Nov. 3rd (6.30 p.m. local)

 

rainouts and changes to the schedule are always possible, as both teams play in outdoor stadiums

it's the 8th Taiwan Series title for them, the first under the current ownership (Rakuten group)

Oh boy Canada's only chance to qualify is through the WBC. Ouch. It's so over already xD

 

(Either way, this is an awful qualification system, especially for the Americas, not in terms of number of quotas but in terms of how they are decided)

      Agree with pretty much everything you said and I definitely see issues with it, but it’s not cheating and I don’t think it was intentional. Cheating would be if the rule on it explicitly state that you can’t touch the rock twice/granite before it reaches the hog-line.    This leaves a lot of room for confusion and although maybe Kennedy thought he wasn’t doing anything wrong, he was a bit of a dick the way he went about it    Now, reading after these, he “technically” didn’t break any rules, but it probably should’ve be a burned rock. Then again it’s not clear enough.    I hope situations like these can be avoided in the future.

      Well it all started already after 2nd end and then they talked to the umpire. And the immediate reaction was to say the same accusations about Oskar instead to the umpire. this can not be seen in any other way as well rehearsed cheating.  You are allowed since a few years back to double touch the handle but you may never touch the granite. It is just like doing it with the broom further down the sheet

      I just woke up. It's surprising that Malinin lost. Before the Olympics, I thought there was a 99% chance Malinin would win. I can only say that this is the charm of the Olympics.

      I'm far from perfect but for the most part my skeletons are funnier than they are problematic - just stuff I prefer to not share on International television :P   I also don't have an SO to cheat on (...anymore, since I am a divorcé and single-ish xD )

      Some words about Ghiotto: for me he doesn't have the same personality/character, like Lollobrigida- I also wrote about this yesterday about case of Wiklund. Ghiotto can only win/win medals when he's in 100% shape. Otherwise, he gives up mentally. He can't break through in a difficult moment during the race and try to salvage at least some of his race. Today, the silver/bronze medal was within reach- all he needed was to win the heat against Begrsma (when was the last time he lost to him in a 10 km race?). In my opinion, Lollobrigida had the totally different personality, that Ghiotto did. When she would a similar mental, like Ghiotto, so she have given up yesterday with max. 2/3 laps remaining and finished 4. Another thing is that even without the right mentality, Ghiotto today had his worst 10k race in over 5 years and there's no excuse for that. Unless he was sick or injured, but I don't know anything about that yet.
