It's showing up on the timetable already.  Also, South Africa gets to re-run the 4x100 by themselves.

 

I guess SA (and USA and Kenya) will still need to be faster than the slowest q?  Otherwise why is SA running by themselves?

I don’t think 2029 will be in London. Think they is a good chance the London stadium gets demolished by then.

According to our news there will be 9 teams in 4x400 men`s final. So USA and Kenya will be fighting for the 9th spot tomorrow.

Per Reuters, @avlar is correct regarding the 4x400m.  "The same lineups for both teams will run at 10.40 a.m. local time and whoever wins, whatever their time, will become the ninth finalist later on Sunday."

 

As far as South Africa, "if they run 38.34 seconds or better (France's time as the eighth-placed team) they will be entered as the ninth team in the final."

Per the Reuters article I just posted, looks like even if SA beat France, then SA gets to join as the 9th (so France stays in regardless).

So 'otherwise they feel bad' is the sole reason why France remains in? If South Africa wasn't pushed away by Jacobs and ran, say, 38.00, France wouldn't have been in it anyway..

 

Oh well, nothing against them, so good for them of course

I'm curious as to what Kenya's argument was.  I just watched the clip again, and I don't see any interaction between them and US/Zambia.  (Kenya is in the red kit two men to the left of Zambia.  If anything, Kenya almost gets in the way of France. - 05:57 of the Youtube.)

Also, just to say it...I recognize that the US is dominant in Athletics.  It's not lost on me that the US has a lot of resources that can help train up excellent athletes, a luxury that isn't available everywhere.  It's always nice in situations like this to see others get a chance to grab the gold.  I feel similarly when watching table tennis, for instance, and someone manages to beat China...there is a sense of 'boredom' I feel if it's an all-China sweep.  So, I can commiserate to some extent if you were feeling excited that the US was out.  But also, it's of course nice to see your home country succeed, so I'm happy we get the chance to re-race.

 

And also, regardless of how it pans out, many congratulations for all the athletes, especially the medallists, for their success!  Regardless of nationality, it's so great to see what humans are capable of, and hopefully we can all be good sports, gracious in winning and losing, and using sport to help connect people from all over the world.
