Jacobs incident with man of South Africa? In my opinion, it wasn't the Italian's fault because he was on his own track. For me, it was a track incident and should simply be left as is. This is sport and anyone can have bad luck. I don't like the constant interference with results, protests, etc., especially since it always do a lot of time. I haven't seen the USA case, but it was probably similar – they were unlucky and that happens. This is sport and some things should be left as they are:  on the track, not later on green table.

His feet were inside the lane but the arm was not. He did not push anyone and was not metres wide but South Africa being allowed to rerun is ok. Desalu sleeping and being way slower than expected was the cause of the contact.

Even with this squad and these problems, final for Italy was certainly realistic, as the time needed to reach the final was poor – much weaker than in 2023. Without Desalu's mistake on start, there was a good chance of advancing, but the fact is, this relay team couldn't hope for anything significant this season.

Per Reuters,  is correct regarding the 4x400m.  "The same lineups for both teams will run at 10.40 a.m. local time and whoever wins, whatever their time, will become the ninth finalist later on Sunday."

I wonder if they will run as fast as they can or if mind games will be afoot.

I would say that such reruns is fair only in the case when it does not influence the places of other teams which got their times earlier.

It is not fair to compare times of the runs which take place during different wether conditions and e t.c.

That`s why reruns are impossible for the finals.

Even if such things happen as:

"UPDATE: USATF has confirmed there will be a runoff for the final spot in the men’s 4x400m Final between USA and Kenya after both were impacted by Zambia in Heat 1 of the preliminary round."

It's showing up on the timetable already.  Also, South Africa gets to re-run the 4x100 by themselves.

I guess SA (and USA and Kenya) will still need to be faster than the slowest q?  Otherwise why is SA running by themselves?

Putting aside that it’s another medal contender out of the final for Canada, not pleased that they get a re-run despite not finishing

The final wasn't repeated?

No, the result was kept.

I think that they could not repeat according to the rules. And it was fair enough it since other 6 girls ran in full strength to the finish line.
