Skeleton Discussion | Qualification to Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

Russians got 9 neutral statuses in bobsleigh and skeleton.

Nonames mostly.

They missed a lot and will miss next stages in Sigulda. But their coach said that "they will be at Olympics - you will see how".

It looks like they are going to demand "defended rankings" usage to get the quotas.

Current Skeleton Olympic Quotas (after 4/7 World Cup Stages):

Men:

3 Quotas: :CHN:GER

2 Quotas: :AUT:CAN:GBR:ITA:JPN:KOR

1 Quota: :AUS:DEN:FRA:ISR:LAT:UKR:USA

Women:

3 Quotas: :GER:GBR

2 Quotas: :CAN:CHN:KOR:USA

1 Quota: :AUT:BEL:BRA:CZE:EST:ITA:LAT:NED:PUR:RSA:SUI

_

Unfortunately, bacouse to the terrible performance of our second girl in this year, we will 99% likely not be able to field two duets in the mixed doubles and in my opinion this is very bad news for us.

The Canadian men having 2 quotas, while not competing at the World Cups, is something interesting :mumble:

The strategy is paying off. The coaching staff calculated that it is a lot easier to finish in the top 4 at the North America Cup than the top 16 at the World Cup.

We are about 80 points ahead of :LAT who along with :AUT and both :JPN riders would have to leap frog our second man.

We may or may not hold on, but we are playing smart given our current weakness in the event.

I still refuse to use riders for anything other than cycling or equestrian.

World cup stage cancelled last week will take place in St.Moriz - so we will see a double stage again.

It is interesting that the men`s field will be very small - just 27 athletes.

It looks like a lot of NOC`s decied to get easier points at the continetal cups.

Erlacher :AUT missed the opportunity to secure a second Olympic quota for Austria (and for her), fading from 2nd to 15th in St-Moritz. She still gets closer to Channell :CAN with one race to go (28 points).

Valentina Margaglio wins the European Cup, excellent news for the ranking and the possibility of having a second quota
