Three 4th place for our relays here, I feel to be Canadian tonight....

won four medals which is above expectations. The decathlon was the only stonewall chance we had coming in. Mixed relay was probably an outsider but the medals in women's LJ and 400H were totally unexpected.

 exceeded expectations in pretty much all events, besides Julia Tunks who could only muster up a 52m throw in the women’s discus throw final after being ranked #2 in the world and finishing just a couple of spots outside of qualifying for the Paris Olympics. 
 

Dianna Proctor, who won silver in the women’s 400m and ran the 2nd leg of the 4x100m relay that won bronze will definitely be a name that I’ll keep my eye out for in the upcoming years, and so too Rachel Forsyth in the women’s 1500m (silver in the 1500m)

 

John O’Reily (men’s 800m, 4th) and Asia Phillips (women’s triple jump, 4th) are other performances that really stood out to me, but so many of our athletes improved on their seeding.

it's because her father (a former 4*400m italian specialist) won the Master World Title in that stadium in San Sebastian and actually it's also the place where he met the woman that later became his wife and mother of Erika

First time since 2012 no medals for us. Unfortunately, a lot of our athletes got sick, there must be some illness going on in our team (or maybe other countries were affected too?) 

 

Men's hammer throw was also extremely disappointing especially with NM from Papanastasiou who was one of the favourites to win!

We defended ourselves here with 2 medals + assuming Furlani's start, there would probably be 3 of them, including 1 gold, but our performance for me is definitely a minus. A large Italian team went, and most of the competitors are out of shape and doing poorly. The result in the points classification will also be much weaker than in 2022. This is probably our first start at the youth and junior level in several years, where we did so poorly. I don't recognize most of our team and they shouldn't start here in such form. 

Discussion over on a British athletics board that this was just too late in the season for most people, who have probably been running since the University season in May.   Mind you, the Australians have been going since February, so....
