Wonder if there’s a bit of a rethink. Polish athletes famous for doing everything every year, maybe need to be a bit more selective.

A bit surprising that only one female athlete, but three male athletes showed such a rapid improvement within the last three years. Normally you would expect female athletes to become world class at an earlier age.

For some women of that age, they were already competing in the Olympics so missed it. Keeley Hodgkinson is an obvious one. 
 

There were also several large nations who didn’t send their best young athletes to that edition in Nairobi (for various reasons)

 

I tend to agree that young women seem to be able to compete at a younger age than young men.
