Apparently the French are open to letting the Netherlands host short track as well.

Is this some kind of sick joke ? I've not seen anything implying this anywhere at the moment.

So if 7-8 indoor sports go from Summer Olympics to Winter Olympics it's not wrong. However I don't want sports repeated.

Indoor sports will be played indoor whether in summer or winter.

Yes it might dilute the winter sports a bit, but then both games may get good revenue and can keep a larger global audience interested. I can't follow all the sports at summer games it's a lot but comparatively winter games have the space to add sports.

If I have to choose Indoor sports into winter games:

- Judo

- Taekwondo or Karate

- Handball

- 3x3 Basketball

- TT or Badminton

- Squash

- Volleyball

- Chess

I think this would make the programme more balanced and will deliver blockbuster Olympics every 2 years

I know this might be an unpopular opinion here in the forum, which is fine.

Actually, there might be some truth to the rumor...

But it seems the only argument given is about the cost of the venue. So 2030 and 2034 should be fine. I encourage everyone to subscribe to it (you can cancel for free before 7 days), there are lots of stuff about future olympic programs that people are not going to like.

I mean if we start talking about the impacts of sliding tracks, then the discussion needs to go to speed skating venues (btw, French Alps, don't you have fairground halls hanging round, I mean EVEN Italy could do that) and ski jumping hills for that matter as well.

It was mentioned on Reddit with people saying Dutch media have mentioned it.

Probably there is one somewhere (not in Nice though). To be honest, French Alps have been a weak project from the start. Born out of wasted regional politicians that wanted a piece of olympic glory while Paris 2024 was still to happen. It would be fair to say that very few people cared until not so long ago.

Mood is beginning to shift I think with the end of Milan (in a "shit, it's getting real" way). I beline at the end, Alpes 2030 will be okay, but with some shortcomings (like speed skating in foreign land)

If anything France should be considering hosting the speed skating at an exhibition hall, like Milan did.Never been a fan of hosting events in other countries if a solution can be found in the host country.

Loubineaud raised his voice before the Olympics, but I don't think it was heard much... There is also something to consider, the french federation seemed to have deal with the dutch federation some training privileges for the french athletes.

Basically confirmed right now by the head of organizing committee, the choice for speed skating is only between the Netherlands and Torino

It sounds just wrong. Winter sport is snow and ice.

If considering reducing Summer Games there is another solution: we have Summer Games, we have Winter Games, all we need are just Autumn and Spring games

All "summer" indoor sports go to Autumn Games. Questionable are sports for Spring Games - but we could find it out.

We can have Olympicsevery year - it is 100% more Olympicsper year! :champion:

And of course, more $$$  for the IOC!
