K 1 W : :ALG / :RSA

Not enough entries. Bouzidi :ALG gets the quota through continental reallocation via 2023 world ranking, as there are three competitors from Africa in this event.

Oceania's continental place now goes to :CHN

:NED should get this quota, but I suspect they will reject it, so it may end up going to :AUT

Men quotas will be decided tomorrow, but I think you'll have to wait a couple of weeks before the reallocation process is complete.

It seems both women quota will be reallocated due to a lack of competitors, with :ALG taking K1, as there are other 2 countries in the ranking from Africa in that event.

It might also depend how the ICF applies that rule. If Algeria is still considered unqualified, then there are 3 athletes attendance.

Algeria is qualified, their NOC already celebrated the reallocation of the quota.

So, if Im not mistaken, the quota should go to the first african in the K1 ranking if there are three or more in the rankings.

So, women's K1 should go to :RSA cause there are :MAR:GUI athletes in the World Ranking too.

There are no enough africans in the women's C1 nor in the continentals or the ranking, so the quota goes to the next in line athlete in the world rankings, :AUT WOLFFHARDT Viktoria

Wikipedia gives the Men's K1 quota to :TUN, but I don't know where it comes. Last thing I saw Tunisia, Comoros and Kenia move to semi finals but I haven't seen those results.

So, as a recap:

Men's C1: :SEN

Women's C1: reallocated to :AUT WOLFFHARDT Viktoria

Men's K1: TBD

Women's K1: reallocated to :RSA BRONKHORST Chantal

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
