No, She'll fight for the refugee team. BBC will just make sure you know she's a multi time British champion!! Fans of Irish sport have some experience of this kind of 'adoption'!

To be fair, she's been an integral part of the GB Boxing set up for a while - the federation refer to her as a sparring partner, but they've given her the same exposure as all of the boxers within the team. Add to that, the guys who are likely to be doing the commentary for BBC in Paris including Steve Bunce already regard her as part of the British team. Having said that, her back story will undoubtedly feature quite heavily in the BBC coverage.

The opportunity to get an extra 'quasi-British' athlete to follow, while virtue signalling on both LGB AND refugee issues, will clearly be far, far too much for BBC to resist. You know it, I know it - and I sympathise with both causes!

My Irish side cannot throw stones - the way we leaned into Wayne McCullough back in the day, letting/making the poor fella carry the tricolour, or the way we're going to hero worship rhasidat adeleke....

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
