Fantastic 6:07 for :FRA Loubinaud in the B division

Great fight in the A division as well, with Roest eventually taking the win against Ghiotto, and Bloemen in 3rd after an insanely fast start.

Incredible time. Even more so when you think his fall in the EC mass-start could have been much much worse ... same applies for countryman Mathieu Belloir for that matter.

Agonizingly close to a WCh spot in the TP but I feel it's just a matter of time.

but no first ever sub-6 min for any of them :nopompom:

even if Bloemen gave it a serious try

Yeah, I didn't think that sub-6 was realistic, I had estimated a world record chance at maybe 10% at best, let alone breaking it by two seconds :p

Roest was strong as usual, but started a bit too slow, good luck making that up against Van der Poel's 28.4 x3 and 28.6 x3 at the end, you'd have to do multiple 27's by that point.

    • I think the reason is that it's generally preferable to have a fast shooter in the 1st leg, and especially in the prone shooting, where Hofer is quite slow.   Now, I'm not saying I agree with the choice, because I don't. I think it's going to neutralize Giacomel's skiing skills in the 1st lap at least.   I guess the idea is to try and set a very fast pace in the 1st leg, which is usually quite tactical, but I'm afraid that's going to force Giacomel to risk too much because he will feel he has to make some time somehow.   Regardless, Italy must be on the podium tomorrow. I think that would be crucial for the following races as well. I think France is the clear favorite, but the other teams are not stronger than Italy on paper.
