Amazing comeback for :DEN as they take this first set 24-23 over :GER in the men’s beach handball quarterfinals!

:DEN was down 14-8, but managed to take the lead with just two seconds to go with Jensen’s shot :d

Almost escaped my attention, but Salgado Martinez :CUB (freediving) became the first athlete from his nation to win a medal at The World Games (in any sport, so far as I can tell).

You are correct, first ever medal for :CUB at World Games. And he is the only athlete of the Cuban delegation.

Just noticed now that the softball, despite there being no competition on 11 and 12 August, has been entirely cancelled instead of postponed

Double gold medal, meaning nobody can call themselves 'the 2025 World Games champion'.

https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2025-the-world-games-womens-softball/news/the-world-games-mens-softball-medal-game-day-5-blog

So from past World Games experience, athletes are brought into the village on three shifts. I think the men's softball teams accommodations would've expired and I'm sure they have already had their flights home booked for months now and that would've been a logistical nightmare for the athletes and coaches. No big NGB to have someone do that for them at the Olympics.

So despite having the two days of no games, it would've been impossible for the players to still be in Chengdu.

:SVK Slovakia at the World Games 2025 :SVK

0 - 1 - 1

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2nd Medal for :SVK :)

Monika Chochlíková

Muay Thai (W -54kg)

BRONZE MEDAL

530417823-18520915282042805-449953068495

Not the color we expected and were hoping for ... but yeah, still a medal.

Monika Chochlíková won her 3rd medal at the World Games today in a row but this time it was not gold like in Alabama (She has also silver in Kickboxing from there).

She had to move up to the -54kg this time which was clearly a handicap, that was visible mainly in the semifinal bout were she was quite unusually outclassed by her opponent, something she is definitely not used to... anyway, kudos to her, to not giving up and winning today´s bronze medal bout, which means she will return home with a bronze this time.

    • c'mon! stop those idiots! they're trying hard to ruin athletics in almost every aspect (road running, field events, the same cross country that has already been killed in practice)   please, someone shoot to death Coe and his accolades as soon as possible!!!
    • That's only if they don't listen to Trump's 48 hour deadline. But that is permanently 48 hours away, since, well, TACO.
    • I agree NO to Poomsae!!!   I think they plan to introduce 6 weight classes after LA instead of 8 right now, and those 6 should become Olympic instead of current 4 weights. Going forward world and Olympic ranking could be identical.    But it’s not clear if that means more quotas. Having 6 classes with 64 athletes per gender would be a joke. A reasonable taekwondo competition needs at least 16 athletes per weightclass. But I am not sure taekwondo can get another 64 quotas in total, I doubt it.    beside that I am not happy with the newly proposed weight classes, they give much more focus on light weight athletes, which will be an advantage for Asian countries mainly.    if the proposal is accepted the new weightclasses will be:    Female: 46kg, 51kg, 57kg, 63kg,70kg and +70kg    Male: 54kg, 60kg, 67kg,74kg, 82kg, +82kg
