sure...I was having my dinner (roast turkey, french fries, one kiwi and some dry fruits...to be precise)...

jokes aside, in any case there's not much to say...he only highlighted what we already think it's obvious since quite a while...

it's only just another confirmation that the Olympic movement is in the hands of the English-speaking powerhouses' lobby and that they don't care about the rest of the world...it's only about their interests and nothing else...:pope:

Is it too late to change my nation to something a little more neutral than the United States?

We're all living through this in the moment.  By next summer, no one is going to remember when the Olympics got postponed or who made the decision or who lobbied for it.  Pound spoke out to shut up the English-speaking world from making the IOC look bad by saying they won't send athletes this Summer.

Yes, I think everything knows the Olympics are getting postponed.  Need to re-work all the contracts.  Once that happens, the IOC can tell everyone.  But if you're looking for evidence of who really runs the IOC, this isn't it.

Wow, what drama for no reason.

We all knew that Olympics were going to get postponed. It's the only sensible decision so who the hell cares about lobbying. Only Abe and his cronies remained delusional.

Not delusional.  They need to work through the legal aspects of this so the IOC doesn't sue them for breach of contract that they couldn't host the Olympics in 2020.  They know it's getting postponed.  Everyone knows.

As things are unfolding the best way is to postpone them to 2021. The Olympic Games are most important games and any continental or world championships should give priority to the Olympics.

The IOC cannot postpone the Olympics! What will happen to all the copies of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 that will look outdated now?

Spoiler

Sorry, just a bad joke to lighten things up. :p

I wonder what happens to the international sports calendar next year. At this point, I’m only interested in the dates. Personally, I’d prefer October to avoid all the other events, but I know I’m the only who cares about most of the other events that will suffer because of this. I love the Olympics like you guys, but it’s the multi-sports games I really enjoy. So while individual sports move their events, and y’all get a win/win; I end up with a lose/lose :(

I’m a little upset (maybe frustrated is a better word), but that’s life. I was really looking forward to 2021 and it’s 25 multi-sports games, but now I’ll probably have to settle for two years in a row of 1 multi-sport game. Plus, even if all the other games aren’t cancelled, they’ll have the weakest fields in history if their not postponed :(

This is really why I was pulling for 2022. There was more room in my ideal international sports schedule, but I need to remember to “always look on the bright side life!” (dodo, dodo, dodo, dodo :p), and remember that I can’t control the uncontrollable in life. I’m still feeling pretty gloomy though. Hopefully my usual upbeat attitude returns soon :)

There's 25 multi-sports games in 2021?  Seriously?  That's actually a thing?

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
