not many moves in the women's -49kg OQR

today's winner is surely :PHI Rosegie Ramos, who finished the championship in 7th place but, above all, improved her record to 188kg (Total), which is good enough to climb the standings up to the 9th useful place

very unlucky effort instead by :TPE Lin Chen Jing and :TPE Fang Wan-Ling, who both improved themselves up to 186kg and 185kg respectively, which means that right now they are the 1st and 2nd below the qualification line

unfortunately, also :ITA Giulia Imperio couldn't improve her record, repeating once again her PB of 183kg and sitting right behind the 2 girls from :TPE just outside the qualification mark (187kg at the moment)

finally, no changes at the top of the standings, however all the 3 medallists from Today (:CHN Jiang Huihua, :CHN Hou Zhihui and :USA Jourdan Elizabeth De La Cruz) consolidated their positions with huge improvements of their records

I think in this sport if you are 11th or 12th (first or 2nd below the qual. zone) there is a very good chance you make the cut later. doping disqualifications are always possible and more than that this is a tough sport with lots of injuries. and some countries might pick up other weights because of max 3 quotas per gender .

nice and close (for Silver and Bronze) competition in the men's -61kg class

:CHN Li Fabin dominated this event with 308kg in the Olympic Total (141kg in the snatch, 167 in C&J)

:ITA Sergio Massidda won a wonderful silver with a Total of 302kg (137 + 165) :champion: :cheer:

bronze in the Olympic Total also went to :CHN (sorry, I don't remember his name, as he lifted in Group B :yikes: )

snatch Gold went to :CHN Li Fabin, meanwhile the C&J Gold went to :USA Hampton Miller Morris (who bombed out in the snatch, despite starting with the lowest weight in group A)

but the most important outcome from Today's competition is that the OQR of this weight class has seen some dramatic changes (we'll analyze them later, when the full results are up, also because some of the top ranked athletes were in Group B)

Full results are up on WIKI

Good performance for :BUL Ivan Dimov, which climbs him in the rankings. I think he could have done 3-4 kg more and be even in a better position.

:mumble: I think he's been extremely lucky with his 160kg effort in C&J, given how strict were the judges Today

I still can't understand why :GEO Mishvelidze's 2nd lift in snatch was called a "no lift", meanwhile I can't believe they gave the 3rd lift in C&J good to the Uzbek man (the only truly wrong call)

so, let's give a look to the men's -61kg OQR

:CHN Li Fabin stays on top with 314kg, 6 kilos more than what he lifted today (I guess he's just keeping something in the tank for the Asian Games)

now :CHN have 3 men in the top 5, since Chen Lijun's 310kg are also untouched from Today's event and Ding Hongjie hit 301kg as a new entry

the best non-Chinese lifter in the ranking now is Today's silver medallist :ITA Sergio Massidda with 302kg (nice improvement from last year's world), he's the 3rd overall in this class

:INA Erko Yuli Irawan is now 3rd in the 1-per-Nation ranking (5th overall, for what it counts) with 300kg

:THA Theerapong Silachai is still high in the ranking with 299kg, despite today only sustained a competitive training in group D

:GEO Shota Mishvelidze climbed the OQR up to the 5th National representative with the new PB of 297kg, followed by :PHI John Ceniza, who improved his record up to 296kg

:BUL Ivan Dimov, :THA Teerapat Chomchuen broke in the top 10 with 293kg (unfortunately for him, the Thai man is still only the 2nd of his Nation), as did :VIE Trinh Van Vinh with 292kg and :MAS Aniq Kasdan, :CUB Arley Calderon with 291

meanwhile, :USA Hampton Miller Morris (bombed out, stuck on the previous 290kg), :ECU Jhon Jairo Serna Mendoza and :MAS Aznil Bidin dropped out of the provisional qualifying positions

so, the new top 10 Nations in this class are: :CHN:ITA:INA:THA:GEO:PHI:BUL:VIE:MAS:CUB

:CHN Chen Lijun dominated the men's -67kg class with 333kg in the Olympic Total

:INA Eko Yuli Irawan finished in silver medal position despite lifting in Group B  with a Total of 321kg

bronze went to :ARM Gor Sahakyan with 312kg in Total

this isn't an Olympic weight class and Today's scores won't impact on the connected -73kg class, except for :CHN Chen Lijun's 333kg, which would put him just in the last qualifying position (amazingly, he's the best Chinese lifter in that ranking so far :yikes:), dropping :VEN Julio Ruben Mayora Perna below the qualification line
