Pavel Hapal fired.

A few minutes ago, our federation ended its cooperation with the national team coach.

Despite advancing to the finals of the Euro 2020 qualifiers Play-Offs, The general assembly of the Slovak Football Association evaluated the results in the ongoing UEFA Nations League B (4 matches and only 1 point) and the overall very poor team's performance in the September & October matches as insufficient and not fulfilling the legitimate expectations of the professional and general public.

The last nail in the coffin was the embarassing fiasco against Israel, a match we lost after leading 2-0 at the half time (Something never happened in the whole history of our NT) !  Especially the way the team was playing this fall was legitimately marked as unacceptable.

The Czech former Czechoslovakia and later Czech Republic football NT quite decent midfielder was the coach of :SVK national team since 22 October 2018 after replacing the most successful coach in our NT history Ján Kozák. He led the team in 17 official matches with a record 6 W - 4 D - 7 L

and it is Štefan Tarkovič who will temporarily coach the national team in the next 3 matches, including the most important of them the EURO Play-Off final in Belfast. If he´ll succeed, there some real chances he´ll get a full time contract.

47 years old Tarkovič was long time assistant (5 and half years) of Ján Kozák with whom they qualfied the country to the EURO in France 2016 and advanced even from the preliminary round there. During their era Slovakia played clearly the most sympathetic football in its history and experienced a very long streak of 9 winning consecutive games (SVK Historic record), (the team under them won for example also matches against Spain or Germany) which catapulted Slovakia into the top 20 of the FIFA World ranking.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
