Vektor 3,196 Posted July 26, 2023 #81 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Anokhin is making a run for it here to qualify to Paris. If he wins one more match, we might see a Russian fencer in Paris after all.

We can see 4 Italians in the QFs if Batini wins against Huang. phelps
Vektor 3,196 Posted July 26, 2023 #85 Share Posted July 26, 2023 Wow, that's a disaster for France. They lost everyone in the R16, not a single French fencer in the women's foil Top8. The Italians can potentially win 3 medals. maestro, Styrka, phelps and 2 others 2 2

phelps 6,990 Posted July 26, 2023 #87 Share Posted July 26, 2023 actually, I'm impressed with Errigo's very, very good physical & mental shape so far she was really outstanding in last year's gold medal match revenge against Thibus Josh and maestro
phelps 6,990 Posted July 26, 2023 #88 Share Posted July 26, 2023 and here we go! Martina Batini is also through to the quarterfinals maximum result still possible, 4 girls in the top 8 (and 1 safe in the medal ranking -but also 1 mathematically out of the medals because of the Volpi vs Batini matchup) Josh, maestro and Matteo92

Styrka 96 Posted July 26, 2023 #90 Share Posted July 26, 2023 (edited) Very impressive, congrats to the four of them ! I couldn't watch the fights, but yes, seeing our three girls being defeated one after the other is depressing (especially Ysaora Thibus, reigning world champion, but congrats to Arianna Errigo for the win and the revenge from last year !) . Let's see if one of our men can win a medal today. Edited July 26, 2023 by Styrka
