Hoping for Sweden-Canada finals ;)

Of course you probably already know that I like Team Edin on the men’s side (and to a lesser extent Team Schwaller), but I also really like Team Hasselborg on the women’s side (same for Team Fujisawa)

Let's hope so! And from my view as I know most of the swedes, they are quite good people too😄

also liked team Fujisawa very much since their first WCH final. And

and the only time I have interacted with Fujisawa, short by the coffe machine at a hotel breakfast she seemed like a very sweet person.

Homan a bit more difficult to get close to and get a picture of while I mer her but such a great player!

GSOC Players Championships Finals

Men

:ITA Team Retornaz v. :CAN Team Gushue

Women

:SUI Team Tirinzoni v. :SWE Team Wrana

On the women’s side, it’s a first victory for Team Tirinzoni over Team Homan in six attempts this season. Rachel Homan (who along with her team finishes 67-7 on the season), vying for a career grand slam will have to wait another year after giving up a steal to Team Tirinzoni in the 8th end. Take a look at this shot by Homan for two in the 6th though. Stealing for the win was a trend in the women’s games tonight, with Team Gim giving up a steal in the 8th to defending champions Team Wrana after coming up just short on the draw (it even came down to a measure)

Can’t seem to find a clearer video of Gim’s final shot and the measure so it’ll have to do for now.

On the men’s side, Team Retornaz were down by two to Team McEwen after the 7th end, but were on fire in the 8th and Retornaz with a great double for three advanced them to the final. In the other game, Bruce Mouat with a game saver in the 7th drawing against five Gushue rocks (They missed a couple in a row before that) to score the single and tie up the game but was unable to apply any pressure in the extra end.

GSOC Players Championship | Toronto,  Ontario, Canada :CAN

I’ve been kind of slacking with the curling updates lately my fault.

Men

1. :CAN Team Gushue :wub:

2. :ITA Team Retornaz

3. :SCO Team Mouat

3. :CAN Team McEwen :cheer:

@Gianlu33

What a class act Retornaz is. After the the final was over, he tipped his hat to Gushue. Wasn’t one of my favourite curlers before today, but he’s grown on me a lot with that gesture.

Women

1. :SUI Team Tirinzoni

2. :SWE Team Wrana

3. :CAN Team Homan :cheer:

3. :KOR Team Gim

A Players Championship title still eludes Homan, but still another solid week for the team.

:drama::popcorn:

Maybe one of Koe, Jacobs, or Morris will skip the team next? (I know Morris has retired from four-man curling and is probably the worst option out of the three, but it’s still an option…)

They could also switch around the roles, maybe Kennedy or Gallant would work as a skip. Not sure on how well that’ll turn out though.

Brad Jacobs leaves Team Carruthers. Seems increasingly likely that he’ll join Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant, and Ben Hebert now. Wonder if Brendan Bottcher will join Team Carruthers next.

    • Hope so (for my adopted country, Norway, that is). Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics I followed closely and it was nothing short of a disaster for Norway. Strangely enough, that was actually the reason I became an avid fan of Norwegian winter sports and have been ever since. As for my actual home country, Greece, a medal for Ginnis in slalom (alpine skiing) would be a miracle.
