ITALY QUALIFIED!!! :hyper:

This a miracle :clap::bowdown:

The only time in history we played at the World Cup was in 1997. The hardest part of these qualifications was, surprisingly, in the first round against Turkey: we defeat in the first match away by -9 goals and a wonderful win at home by +10 goals. Later, against Belgium and now against Montenegro, we won two matches each: at home and away. Especially the last match against Montenegro was under our absolute control: we were still leading by several goals.

Day 1 results:

:ITA  32 - :TUN 25 ...a big surprise as a result but in the game the swift and talented Italian team deserved the win against one of the best teams in Africa, Tunisian players seem too heavy and lack of options and tactics. well done Italy.

:FRA 37 - :QAT  19 .. France easily dominates the game and the gap getting bigger and bigger along the game, the mixed international old lads team who called themselves Qatar wasn't able to play against France. good result for most of Handball fans

:AUT 37 - :KUW 26 .. both teams are not top but despite the close results in the first half (18-16) Austria managed to widen the gap in the second half and secured a realistic win.

:DEN 47 - :ALG 22 .. easy win for Denmark, Algeria couldn't do anything against the world and olympic champion despite the great effort from the Algerian GK Khalifa Ghedbane.

3 teams qualify from each group, with yesterday performance it seems like:

Group B :DEN:ITA:TUN  ...but if Tunisia kept the bad performance :ALG has the chance to qualify ..their match will be the decider.

Group C :FRA :AUT:QAT .. the match between Qatar and Austria will decide who will be in the 2nd place.

today we have 8 games:

:CZE VS :SUI

:EGY VS :ARG

:NED VS :GUI

:POR VS :USA

:CRO VS :BRN

:GER VS :POL

:HUN VS :MKD

:NOR VS :BRA

the games are broadcasted on the Egyptian channels (ON time sport 1 & 2) if you have IPTV.

    • Looks like also two 1994 world champions, pair skaters Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who have been coaches in the US for years.
    • But there is zero indication, at all. Tarjei has been hinting on retirement for years, JTB has always made it clear he didn't want to continue after Cortina and simply moved it up a year, and Riiber has a disease.
    • This does not at all seem related, as Crohn's disease is given as the - understandable - reason. Also might explain why he hasn't been that dominant lately.   Same for the Boe brothers, that feels entirely different than the Braathen thing.
    • Just notice that  Usman Khawaja scored 232 runs off 352 balls in a single innings in the Test match against Sri Lanka.  Two other Australian players have already scored centuries, and the Aussi are 591/5. Massive batting performance In other news, Steven Smith scored 10k runs in his Test career.

    • well, here you have it.   this time is extra especial because this happened at the same night as champion league matches of two main Portuguese football clubs, so was not expecting this cover at all.         and they even made it to the national general newspapers:
    • Yesterday results:  VS  33-21,  team continued their unbeaten record (35 game without losing in WCh since 2017) the game started for  and score reached 10-3 after 15 min, better performance from  team led to closing the gap to 15-12 by half time, the 2nd half had a margin favor for  till minute 40 when the Danish team start scoring 8 consecutive goals without response, 12 minutes until Brazil scored again, during that blackout time  GK Martins did really well but his team mates were not able to break the great wall of Nielsen. hard luck for  and wish they continue such great performance in next tournaments.     VS  31-30, the most improved and best performer so far  (except  for sure) had a great night yesterday. to get the summary of the game,  were playing  GK Wolff who made 21 saves in the game !! 21 !!! I believe at least 17-18 of them were one on one. on the other hand both  GKs did well saving 12 shots (Marques saved 7 while Capdeville saved 5). the game  started with  leading till end of first hal 13-9 ..  in second half ..ah ..sorry ..I will say Wolff not   ...Wolff in 2nd half managed to close the gap and even lead by 2 goals, but Portela and Francisco Costa were able to finish the time draw 26-26. the extra time started with  heading again thanks to :Francisco Costa and  Martim Costa .. Knorr and Zerbe managed to draw for the team Wolff ... but 4 seconds before the end Martim Costa scored the golden goal to secure the first ever  semifinal spot in a well deserved game with huge frustration from Wolff against his team mates.   in 2019  U21 team finished 4th in WCh ( finished 3rd in the same tournament) in the same year  U 19 team finished 4th too in Wch ( won that tournament) now  in the semi final with amazing performance and mix of mostly young players and few experienced.   Semi Final Games:   30th of Jan    VS   31st of Jan    VS
    • I know that. I was just wondering if any users on here have been keeping track of quotas since FIS likely won't make the qualification points list public until spring at the earliest.    And judging by the lack of replies on here, it would seem like the answer is no unsurprisingly
    • At this rate, we'll be getting a retirement announcement from Klæbo by the end of next week.
    • Yeah, there is a problem with sponsors or something like this.   I remember when Lucas changed nationality for Brazil thanks his brazilian mom it was very commented here.
