Euro 2020 had to deal with COVID and all of its restrictions, but it did showcase that there are diminishing returns for hosting in a large number of cities and in multiple countries.

The Olympics are already held outside of the host city for some sports. 2024 had 8 sports held partially or entirely outside of Paris. Is it really that crazy to have those sports clustered together in a second (or maybe third) area?

In a second or third area? In countries that are located on different continents? Bad idea. Let's see how the 2030 World Cup goes and how disadvantaged teams that will play in South America before flying back to Europe will be.

While I as a TV watcher would love this, it would be a disaster. Part of the appeal is all the athletes and fans being in one place all celebrating and cheering together.

I know TV is king but this is ridiculous. It's not 1956 anymore (and I still don't know why Australia didn't allow horses from other continents to enter).

An outbreak of Equine Influenza in Europe and America hadn't reached Australia yet.

  • 2 weeks later...

Look who visited Slovakia today.

Not sure you´ll recognize him without the "1976 Fencing Olympic Champion" subtitle though...

Probably after smoking some good local stuff to close his mini visit of Slovensko Mr. Bach shocked at the press conference in Bratislava by the sentence "I can imagine Bratislava co-host the Summer Olympic Games alongside of Vienna and Budapest"

I swear, we started to produce some interesting quality shit lately

obviously the chance to happen is around zero point triple zero. But, in other hand who would not be all for to see some high level of breaking, lacrosse or surfing competition in our venues..

At least a Bratislava Olympics would be a fitting home for Slovakia’s most popular sport, golf.

As a Mediterranean, it makes me very strange that Prague is not included in the project. Usually the Czech Republic is one of the pivots of Visegrad/Mitteleuropa. Am I missing something or some political controversy between the IOC and the Czech NOC?

Belgrade wasnt that far from getting the Games in 1992, so i dont think that idea of having Bratislava as hosts is impossible. Probably as co-hosts though.

I do believe that IOC will consider abandoning sole host idea in the nearest future.
