Probably you are right.

we here in Europe didn’t care about some other NOCs competing in some previous Olympics despite those countries starting unnecessary wars somewhere far away from us

we are not without blame ofc

The most obvious case was the 1976 Olympic boycott by African countries due to New Zealand breaking the anti-apartheid ban. And truly nobody gives a damn about that - or talks about all those rugby tours during the South African apartheid regime. I assume there were some cricket tours as well but I don't that much about the sport. It's an old story of another double standards yet because it affects Africa then nobody really cares anymore. These days a lot of ethic Africans even compete for more wealthy nations so it's all been swept under the carpet anyway. A dust in the history wind...

This „Russians in Paris” thing is just like Middle East. There is just no good solution here.

Because we have a war going on at our backyard and it is a new thing for us, we didn’t get used to that yet.

neither i , the last war Egypt took part in was back in 1973 and i wasn't born yet , i didn't make laugh of any thing related to war , it's just a comment of u mentioning the probability of Russia vs Ukraine matches in Combat sport and i guess some people may see it funny as well

That might be true to some degree.. but the difference to all wars somewhere in the world in recent history is that one land is stealing territory from another here.

I repeat myself 1000 times here but…

for me Olympics is 2.5 weeks off-work every two years

vacations, relaxing times

and i just wonder will i ever be able to watch the games calmly, without alerts on my phone scaring me all the time, like it was because of RUS back in 2008, 2014 and 2022…

just 2.5 weeks of easy living… i know i am asking for too much here

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
