:ITA isn't sweeping this time in women's foil.

2 x :UKR + :ROU + :POL + :HUN so far in the Top8, good day for Central/Eastern Europe in women's foil.

only because we only started 1 girl (and not even one of the best 4 among them).

still we might win gold with less than the minimum effort :p

Wtf?  I mean, I get it, the individual events mean nothing in the ranking, but going into a very important team event like this seems quite strange.

I have no idea why the took this decision.

I think I'll never understand what's in this people's mind.

by the way, this painful agony is over. Cipressa can fly home with the first plane available.

Nicely done, Flóra, we need all the success we can get our hand on in women's foil, even if it doesn't count for Paris. First fencing medal already in the bag in an event where we rarely see medals these days.

:ROU v :POL and :ISR v :HUN in the semis.

Pretty much anyone can win this gold thanks to the Italian and French withdrawal.

@phelps you are not alone, :FRA is skipping ALL the individual events.

If I am seeing it right, :ITA only has their top fencers in men's and women's sabre.

Big yikes, they doing the opposite of what Áron Szilágyi done (he skipped the "real" ECh in favor of the individual European Games competition). All other top Hungarian fencers are competing both at the real ECh and at the European Games, with the exception of Anna Márton, who's injured.

    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
