He really has a unique style which makes him have not much of a disadvantage from it. Basically he's the only sprinter (ever?) who is somehow able to sort of accelerate after the final turn, which is where he gains a lot of his time, whereas many top sprinters have trouble even holding the inside lane when they're going fast. Shinhama probably being the best example, he often just hits the brakes in that inside turn.

One-race 500m of course remains bullshit, but at least with this race Stolz made it fairly clear he'd have won anyway

Leerdam in the last pair with Goetz. I guess that was planned.

Karolina Bosiek in pair with Brittany Bowe. Top 12 is maybe possible?

Obviously GB officials listened to me ...

Overall insane winter sport results for GB this season. I think they might have won more medals than Finland for example?

No - he was raised in the Netherlands but his mother is English and has had duel nationality since birth

  And Malinin bounced back. He earned a WR 238.24 in the FP...and of note that in this Grand Prix Finals event, the 6th place competitor earned 242.19 combined (not even 4 points higher). Dang.

  Liu fell 8 minutes in, a hard fall it seems which prevented the race from going on. The three skaters (Lorello Bosker and Trebouta ) will get a rerun tonight. As the Netherlands and Italy already have two guys in qualifying spots this is not a disaster for them. But Trebouta will now start another 10000 with 15 laps in the legs, alone in his pair, aiming for 12'49 to qualify. We'll never know what he would have done in those last laps but he was on pace to at least approach this time.
