Disastrous championships for :FRA for the moment, with maybe only one boat that will get a quota.

For the moment, no plausible explanations from the federation.

The two Lightweight boats were contenders for the podium, and here we are now with the men eliminated and the women in difficulty for the last quota in Final B.

Which teams from 5 and 6 should advance in your opinion ;) I cannot see many huge upsets.

:UKR W4x surely would have chances to qualify. But lane 5...

Seems like we have been saying that across multiple sport events - track cycling, athletics and now rowing. It's getting increasingly difficult to see where the projected 31 gold medals are going to come from.

A little too much is being made of the lanes IMO. The best crews had the best lanes. The top 3 were more than likely coming form those lanes regardless of weather.  Instead of the usual 2-5, it was 1-4.

Yeah - and I think that is more realistic  - but the Gracenote projection had France initially at 32 and this month at 31 which I can't see happening. Very frustrating that nobody has published their full breakdown to see what they were thinking.

Gracenotes numbers are always....unreflective of the actuality.

Disaster for Greece yet again

Our W2- finished 4th in their SF, which is sad, but they really SHOULD get a quota here. Nothing has indicated that they will finish last in Final B, so I'm not too concerned about them but you never know.

Our LW2X will probably have to try again next year, as it will be very difficult for them to win Final B especially from Lane 5.

In the end it looks like we will only qualify M1X and W2- from here, which is very disappointing as we were expecting to have 4-5 crews to qualify. LM2X and LW2X really let us down...

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
