and now we also recorded the worst disappointment among the few boats that at least qualified to the Games  :hairpull:

so, we finish this championship with 4 OQP and 2 medals (no gold)...worse than the most pessimistic preview :bones: :zip:

To be fair you do have 3 golds in the non-Olympic classes and Italy remains the top lightweight nation, it just didn't quite come together for the Olympic boats.

Is 6th not the worst outcome?

I think it means they wont be eligible for the Pan-Am continental qualifier so miss out on possible extra quotas.

No, see the discussion above. As 6th with no quota place from the women's 8th Canada could have participated in the American qualifier. ;)

Once again we witness the reason why the eights are the iconic race of rowing and will always be. You can't buy magic

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

Well technically yes, but Italy is so far behind the rest of the field, that anything other than a 6th would've been a massive surprise. Also, as @Rafa Maciel said, if Canada failed to qualify a boat here, we would be eligible for the Continental Qualifiers (and likely two extra quotas).

The mighty dutch rowers are not competing today?

Another 4th place for Ntouskos. Perhaps he is thinking of switching citizenship to Canada?

Anything fishy about the winner? 😃

11 boats qualified for the Olympic Games, it's absolutely fantastic, 44 athletes out of a possible 45. Rowing is by far the number 1 sport in Romania, I hope for some very good Olympic Games from the Romanian rowers. Good for them.

do you want to try  qualify someone in men's single?

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
