True, ISSF didnt do much to save DT. In 2004 women DT, now men... Plenty of time to try to save it. Personally, i like it even more than skeet or trap.

Ocassionally, yes. On the other hand, see what happened with running target. Olympic Games bring that vital ingredient for some sport to develop.

Honestly, more than Olympics, DT is dying due to non-inclusion in World Cups. What is stopping ISSF from including DT, 50m Pistol and 50m Rifle Prone in World Cups? Pistol and Rifle events (like Center Fire Pistol, 25m Standard Pistol, Prone in Rifle) and all such have already died but they still have decent participation in WC because it is easier for Rifle and Pistol shooters to focus on Olympic/WC events year long and take part in these additional events as practice or those who miss out on main events can take part in these events. Sadly, there are not many shotgun shooters who regularly take part in two events. So, there is simply no incentive for a shooter to continue shooting Double Trap just for one event in the whole year. If it was also part of World Cups, then it going out of Olympics would still be a blow but atleast manageable.

Well, seems to me that ISSF and ICF are like those people who are desperately clinging to only one thing they have in their life. It's not all IOC's fault that events with much tradition are disappearing as soon as they get axed from the program. There are plenty of existing, competitive non-Olympic events in other sports.

Yes, you are right, ISSF just continues with bad politics IOC is making. With World Cup it would be easier to save this great discipline, but ISSF is just lazy or something else.

We had shooters who competed in 2 shotgun events (Rhode as most famous one) but they were minority compared with riffle or pistol events. So, its easier to focus on, say, 50 m prone when they exlude 3positions, but all DT specialist wont chose trap or skeet this time. So, we will stay without some great shooters (Eller, Dahlby, Mosin, Scott).

Like i mentioned before, DT will become something like 10m RT). We will have it on WCh, with just few enthusiasts and thats it.

Unlike RT, DT is much more interesting and TV friendly.

Well, all this mess started after his innovative "Agenda 2020" was established, so indirectly yes I blame mainly him. Such "innovative inventions"  were unimaginable under Samaranch or Rogge

Don't see the problem to be honest, we have other great sports now like breakdancing or climbing, let's just hope that race walking will follow soon. :fingers:

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

As far as I now, the 50k will officially disappear from all events after Tokyo. A farewell ceremony will be prepared by the athletes after the race. I am pretty sure the 20k will follow as soon as it will be possible to make place for team quotas for the newly successfully established DNA.

I have no problem with Climbing to be fair. I would be even more happier if it will have all 3 separate events as well instead of the combined.

So, every form of walking will be excluded from the Olympics?

    • By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics. Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).   I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
