Poor from :GBR, this is a quota we should be going for and one that will massively impact whether we get any individual quotas.

don't worry, it's only the 1st round...

I think in the end it will be between :GBR:POL and :GER maybe :ESP for the European quota (as :ITA and :FRA will be surely in the top 4 overall).

I hope so. We've got about 2-3 fencers who have a good shot at getting individual quotas, and whether they get them could all depend on whether we get the team quotas due to European quotas being exceeded.

the Olympic Ranking is exactly the same of this event, as it was the 1st one of the OQP.

Does the FEI publish a separate Olympic ranking like the UCI and IJF or does it just use the rolling 1 year ranking like we will see with WTA/ATP when their qualification period begins in June?

before Tokyo they did publish the team and individual Olympic Ranking in a separate mini-site within the main fie.org, but they started only halfway through the OQP.

hopefully this time they will start earlier, but so far I can't see anything dedicated to the OQ pathway. :mumble:

in any case, there was a facebook page updating all the rankings weekly and we also used to make our calculations by ourselves.

we won't miss a thing, don't worry ;)

    • Hey guys, I contribute Skeleton articles for a new winter-sports focused website called "All things Snow".   I was wondering if any of you could please spare a few moments to read my latest article on the World Cup finale in Altenberg a few weeks ago.   Any feedback on length, content, or just general tips will be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to implement them in my Olympic Skeleton recap pieces. Thanks!   https://allthingssnow.net/2026/01/19/pfeifer-and-wyatt-win-the-finale-meylemans-and-weston-seal-crystal-globes/

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.
