triumphant day for the Italian Foil, with both teams back on top of the podium in the most prestigious world cup tournament of the year.

fun fact, both the women and the men's events have the same 3 Nations in the top 3 places...and in both cases, Italy had to win a super-tough battle against Japan in the semifinals (tougher than the GMM).

in the Sabre Grand Prix event, finally the great Olga Kharlan is back on the podium.

very good silver medal also for the Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Samele in the men's tournament.

I just hope that they can keep this up once the ranking points start counting for OG qualification. Georgiadou has a real shot at a medal in Paris, which is crazy because she was a nobody until the last 1.5 years or so, now she is a top fencer in her 30s!

Of course the other alternative is to qualify in the team event, which will be difficult but we keep improving so you never know.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
