Cycling - Dominican Republic (that's already 2nd debuting sport for them after equestrian)

Almost forgot team sports...

Volleyball - Cameroon

 

For Croatia, it might be diving, if reallocation goes our way.

The whole "angry Serbs" thing aside, since Kosovo is a nation, recognized by a majority of countries and - the most important - by the IOC, we will obviously count them as nation  (although not for this list, given that they will debut)

 

But let's stop this right here before the thread goes in the completely wrong direction

It's a hard question because Serbia as a Serbia will have basketball for sure for the first time, last time it was in Athens as Yugoslavia or Serbia and Montenegro, I can't even remember. But I don't count that as a debut.

2004 was as Serbia and Montenegro...I'm surprised Serbia wasn't there in 2008 and 2012

Well, it's tough to qualify in basketball, only 12 teams is a joke, it should be 16. 2008 Olympic cycle was probably the worst ever for our basketball, and in 2011 we failed to qualify, there were better teams plus some injuries.

 

And even now we are not yet qualified in men's basketball even though I think we will qualify, but we are in women's basketball.

The only new sport for Iran can be Volleyball, if they qualify in Japan !

 

we could debut in Handball if it wasn't a world selection team called Qatar

 

they are trying their chance in Slalom Canoeing and Beach Volleyball but no realistic chance.

In addition to Field Hockey, Brazil will also debut in Badminton and Trampoline Gymnastics thanks to being the host nation.
