They expended it from 16 to 24 ! we will see India, Turkmenistan, Lebanon, Kyrgyzstan, Yemen, Philippines, all of them in the competition this time :d

Europe with 24 was a bit strange and definitely we didn't witness as many interesting matches last year but Asia with 24 teams is really too much!

Lebanon participated in 2000 edition , but as hosts , so it's the 1st time they qualify to Asian cup not to participate :d , Philippines and Yemen didn't qualify yet especially Yemen will have strong competition from Tajikistan in the final matches

Africa will also have 24 teams in 2019 tournament in Cameroon , it's just a matter of marketing and raising profits

As expected, the Italian coach Gian Piero Ventura is fired, and as expected too, nothing has changed at the FIGC management.......

The president Carlo Tavecchio don't resign, and He will ask the support in the next Federal Council (next week) .

How can save himself? Maybe will try to do a "big name" for the NT bench (rumors Ancelotti ... but how can pay it? )

Why "all " want save him?  For maintain the status quo of Italian football ........

Note: the two major leagues of our football are without a president from last spring.

Serie A league, from April, have a temporary commissioner (Tavecchio !!!) and Serie B league from March, have a temporary commissioner the lawyer Mauro Balata. After more than six month isn't possible yet, the election of presidents ..... for someone (clubs) the staus quo isn't a trouble.......

PS:    @Wanderer

Quote

WC with 48 teams it would be impossible to fail

. I hope :ITA will don't have wait the new format for back at WC  :(

    • Finals are set    An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
    • Yeah, it was clear. But i repeat, we need it? I think no.
    • GSOC HearingLife Tour Challenge Semifinals  Women  Team Fujisawa v.  Team Einarson  Team Lawes v.  Team Homan   Men  Team Mouat v.  Team McEwen  Team Dunstone v.  Team Gushue
    • In the past the ISU has now allowed countries without a Federation to compete.
    • yeah I know    I mean it wasn't a different team specific for that sport. it was the same CC team participating in both sports.
    • It is run by a different federation though
    • from what I heard , Iran has registered to participate in Alpine, CC skiing, SkiMo, Skating (they didn't mention which discipline ) and ... (this one will be surprising ) ... Curling    Curling is not a sure thing yet, the NOC has to approve it. the team is very new. I mean very very new, only few months ago they gathered few people to start the sport  you can't lose 100-0 in Curling, right ?    anyway it will be first time ever Iran participating outside of FIS disciplines. ( I didn't count Ski orienteering in 2011 which was the same as CC)   nobody cares about winter sports here. therefore finishing last won't have consequences. they can afford sending very weak teams. (which is not the case for the main Asian Games)
    • World Junior Championships ( Dushanbe)   Day #4 Medallists   women's -78kg Gold:  Brenda Olaya Silver:  Mathilda Sophie Niemeyer Bronze:  Eva Ronja Buddenkotte &  Dandara Camilo   women's +78kg Gold:  Lee Hyeon Ji Silver:  Celia Cancan Bronze:  Chihiro Yamaguchi &  Safa Soliman   men's -100kg Gold:  Mukhammadsodik Sodikov Silver:  Nozomu Miki Bronze:  Azhdar Baghirov &  Fares Mekhoukh   men's +100kg Gold:  Denis Batchaev Silver:  Kanan Nasibov Bronze:  Saba Kardava &  Ibrahim Tataroglu
    • 100 days to go until the first multi-sports games of the 2025
    • 11 medals out of 15 athletes. for whatever reason  we sent an incomplete team of 16 athletes (only 1 left for tomorrow) I wish I knew why  I can guess though   the result is indeed very good in such a competitive sport but lack of talent was never our problem in taekwondo. it was always there probably much more than any other country.    but the problem is the transition to the senior team. most of previous junior world champions never even made the senior team. (the new federation is doing better in this regard though)
