Well, someone is sad because of Italy's failure, someone is not... but when they implement WC with 48 teams it would be impossible to fail. Qualifications may become boring

For the 1st time in history 5 Asian teams qualify to WC and the 1st time an Asian team succeds to qualify from interconintal play-offs

the first part is true but this is not the first time AFC teams winning a playoff, Iran qualified against the same Australia (was an OFC member at the time) back in 1998 in the most memorable match of Iranian football history

Thanks for this info , I thought the first time Asian teams played intercontinental play-offs was when Iran also played Ireland in 2002 qualifiers

That's not totally true, Europe will gain only 3 more teams, the other confederations though will have pretty pointless qualifying.

North America will have 6 (the entire Hex)

South America will have 6

Africa will have 9!!!

Asia will have 8!!!

and Oceania will have 1 direct

and also 2 playoff spots, not sure from which confederations yet

This expansion is only made for the smaller countries to qualify, not European teams
