I was wondering the same thing.  Maybe this is from Wikileaks :) !  The first biathlon themed dump!  To be a little more serious, I would love to see this, as well as the points list, races where points are available, how many, etc.

That's easy, every World Cup and IBU Cup, plus Open European and World Championships :p (and only sprint + individual + since this season supersprint qualifying)

So no points at all from domestic/regional competitions?  So if a Mexican biathlete only competed in the North American events, there would be no way for them to get a slot?  How then does a country get a slot, if you have to race in a specific race to get points, but to race in a specific race, you need to have points?

The IBU Cup is open for everyone (assuming one demonstrates the ability to safely handle a rifle and stuff like that) :)

You just have to get a certain number of points to be allowed to compete in the next trimester, if you don't, you have to skip a trimester. In my opinion the IBU points system is a billion times more fair than the FIS points system, because it's just impossible to compare for example World Cups with North American or Iranian races (to take XC as example).

So there is a maximum cap on the IBU Cup per nation (to prevent the race being all Norway, Russia and Germany), but not a minimum.  So in my example, all the Mexican Biathlon Federation would need to do is contact the IBU and let them know that they had an athlete who they wanted to compete in the trimester.  What if they had 5 and had the money to do so, would they be allowed all 5?

I agree that the FIS system is very confusing, but it did allow for Tonga to have a rep in the last Olympics.

That is correct :p  (at least for one trimester, those who get under 250 points at least once in a race can compete in the next one as well, those who don't have to skip the next trimester and then try again)

About handling a rifle safely: that's mostly up to the federation to kind of vouch for that if I'm not mistaken, there's not really an IBU-test or something where you have to prove it (not anymore at least), which I think is wrong, but alright.

@heywoodu That makes sense :) I found it in the ‘media’ section. You’re supposed to log in before you see any information but if you ignore and open up the tab options the ‘Quotas’ tab is accessible regardless ;)

    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.
    • I'm in tears, finally I have access after months. For some reason I can only enter the site from my phone. Surely it must be a problem with my home internet connection.
    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
    • It's complete American domination in the women's discus rankings so far this year, they occupy the top 4 slots, and the WORST result of those four was achieved at Ramona .Third place currently belongs to Ciera Jackson who had a huge almost 4 METER pr at the west coast relays on friday-64.42[previous best was 60.77 from march of 2023,and she opened her season a week ago with at that time her second best result ever of 60.14]she also had a 63.66 throw to back this new pb up,and finally with her new personal best she took down the school record that stood for 36 YEARS[Btw Valerie Allman actually competed in Ramona on march 30th but conditions were apparently far from ideal and she fouled four times and her best was a 63.61,i don't doubt that in the event that she competes in the  world intational, the conditions will be perfect,i wouldn't be so bold as to say she wouldl get the world record but for sure i think she could get a new personal best.
    • So after finding this this morning     I started to search for more news about the date and ticket prices all over the world web !   I found this then       to just notice later that   it was April fools     so yeah, that was my day
