Day 14 saw Canada win four medals including gold in women's football, our best day of the games.

Day 15 sees things winding down, but we still have medal chances in athletics (women's 4x400m relay), canoeing (women's C2 500m), diving (men's 10m platform) and karate (men's +61kg).

Overall, how is the Games for Canada? Did you complain much about Week 1? Since Italy and Poland have had a tremendous run of form in Week 2 (by our own standards) I wonder if Canada had a better first or second week? You didn't win any golds in swimming?

I am pretty satisfied.  The first week was great for us.  We had great results in swimming.  The second week was a mixed reactions from me, but it got better obviously lol :d

Second best non-boycotted games, one more gold would make it the best. One more medal of any colour would also make it the most ever in a non boycotted games. Maggie Mac Neil won gold in swimming (100m butterfly), it was Canada's first gold of these games. I can also recall saying "shitty day today" twice, so its unreal this performance. It could be even better.

Second week started badly with two straight days of no medals (every day up until that point there was at least one medal).

Overall, great!  Most of us predicted low to mid 20s in medals with 3-4 golds.  So We've hit that target.

There were some disappointments, but born again Penny Oleksiak and Andre de Grasse paved the way.

Warner winning the decathlon was a statement.  Charron winning gold was an understated statement.

Our swim team and our athletic team came through again, which was missing for decades before 2016.

So many high moments, but I'd say the biggest surprise was the W8 winning gold in rowing.  I'm so sorry I missed it (I was climbing a mountain at the time), I knew they were up to something good.

Having said that, gold in soccer was unforeseeable.  Beating the USA, revenge for the stolen game in 2012 was probably enough.  But was it?  One of the greatest moments in Canadian history tonight.

What our the chances for men’s Maddison ?

Its a new event and they have not raced it on the international stage. I'd assume they have some chances based on it being an endurance event. We did have a fluke winner in 2004.

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
