Sports/Events Program for the 2021 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games: https://www.sat.or.th/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Event.pdf

It’s weird collection of sports and events as always. There’s some weird omissions of events, which leads me to believe Thailand has designed a program that favors them (not unlike Turkmenistan did).

You can find the logo, proposed schedule, and venue plan on this website: https://www.sat.or.th/bkk-cbi2021/

Roller sports/climbing are listed as one, are they going to do both to earn medals? lol

also, Netball giving 2 bronze medals strange

OCA has them listed as separate sports, so I think that’s just someone with poor PDF creation skills :p

It’s an OCA multi-sports games, so that’s actually one of the more normal things listed on that document :p

good luck to have a big event like this only in 5 months ! but who knows this is Thailand, they love to host big events like this. apparently things are free there, and they don't have to worry about the costs :d

but let's imagine COVID will disappear before May, it seems they throw everything they had to the program. Wai Kru, really ?! :p that's a dance before the Muaythai competitions ! ASEAN chess ?! Drone racing ?! (that's demonstration though) Mixed sepaktakraw ?! :yikes: this is new , IOC will love the idea!

the selection of weights for combat sports is also funny, doesn't make sense in most sports. I assume they only pick weights where there is a "decent" Thai fighter. Wrestling (excluding traditional wrestling) has only 4 events, 2 FS, 1 GR and 1 Women  I never heard of such thing in my life. and why exactly 67kg GR and why not another weight ? :d

I really hope we will have this competition in May but that's really unlikely. Asia is in trouble to find hosts for its Olympic qualifiers. nobody in Asia (except our rich friends in Persian Gulf) is interested to host anything these days.

Couldn't really understand the inclusion of badminton and pistols event - it is indeed an indoor sports - but I think it's already popular enough?

And pencak silat comes back to Asian stage again, let's see what kind of judging will came out

Does anyone have any contacts at Atos Spain, or MSL? I’m still missing results PDFs from the Games they provided results for. I haven’t been able to contact them in any form.

Yea... I think these games should only be for sports/disciplines not on the main Asian Games.program.

However having badminton is more profitable for the hosts as the nation loves the sport and would also have better viewership than the smaller sports. So having a major sport or 2 which can increase local interest is just fine imo.

So... Doha 2030 / Riyadh 2034 or Riyadh 2030 / Doha 2034?

I think by next year we will already know the host of Asian Games 2050

Good for Riyadh. We would watch lots of female sports first ever host in Saudi Arabia. Good for Saudi's female sports and athletes.

    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
