What a weird rule the OCA has. At the Asian Youth Games, the women's golf was swept by China, but the bronze medal went to 4th place.

That rule has been in place a long time. If you look at the results of previous Asian Games in bowling or shooting, you’d see third place athletes being deprived of their medals because of the no clean sweep rule.

it was really fun following/watching the Asian Youth Games in past 10 days. the TV coverage was good enough for such youth level event.

most Asian countries took it almost seriously, what a pity Japan and South Korea didn't  I mean they had their top athletes in some sports but not all of them, Japan specially had a limited number of athletes in few sports.

Iran sent a relatively big delegation (Bahrain is just next door) and did OK, finishing 4th in medal table both in term of number of medals and number of gold medals.

also really happy with our girls' performance, winning more or less the same number of medals as boys and even outscored them heavily in certain sports. the girls did actually better overall if it wasn't for wrestling (which is a men's only sport here unfortunately) winning gold medals in girls' handball and girls' volleyball was quite unexpected. :yes great results considering all limitations and restrictions girls are facing here.

btw all of a sudden we had 3 girls in boxing, this is somehow debut of Iran in international women's boxing. this leaves wrestling as the only men's only sport here. hopefully that changes soon.

Uruguay will debut as a guest country at the 2025 Bolivarian Games in Lima, Peru. It will compete in rowing (!), weightlifting, martial arts, Basque pelota and e-sports.

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.
