Yep. :)  Steira also won the 5000m in 2009 and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen has a bronze medal on the 5000m. Jacobsen also starts in the 5000m this year.

By the way, Johaug's personal best is 33:36 (10km), but that is set on road, so she is probably faster on track

Johaug won in 30:20,87 and lapped everyone twice :p

Are you entirely sure? Because that'd be insane :d Only 20 women in history have gone under 30:20 so I'm having a major case of

Right! Ingrid Kristiansen's NR is 30:13,74 so Johaug would have set the house on fire with that time. It's 32:20 indeed (but I took this result from Polish media so they're the ones to blame). My search of the Norwegian media has the 2nd place finisher at 34:47 so yeah, she did lap her twice ;)

And she was 20 secs. faster than Steira's 2014 result (what else is new).

:LUX Bob Bertemes threw 22.22m in men's shot put at a meeting in Luxembourg yesterday! :yikes:

https://www.iaaf.org/athletes/luxembourg/bob-bertemes-266203

This throw makes him the 20th best male shot putter of all time (best = longest thow by an athlete). It also makes him the 7th best European male shot putter of all time!

The only other European who is better than him, and not from the 80's, is :POL Michal Haratyk with 22.32m.

As many have said about this season in men's shot put, wow!

Meh. Barely enough for bronze in 1988.

So, will we see Therese in Dauha ?

No, she is still half a minute from the WCH Standard, and there are already 27, (29 to be precise), athletes that have achieved the WCH Standard. The target number is 27, so no room for her.

But she might start in next year's ECH in Paris on the 10,000m, and with many of the best Europeans focusing on the Olympics, she could have chance to win a medal. Of course this depend on who are actually going to compete in next year's ECH because she is nowhere near a medal if the best starts.

    • sure! in every Italian bedroom you normally have every kind of table, chairs, furniture, tv screen  to me, this really look an unfinished room, you normally don't see such a sad place even when you buy a new house
    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
