  • 1 month later...

Great !

no spectators...

Dúbravka (newcastle Utd) our GK and the main chance to keep our chances still alive injured yesterday his knee and is out,,,

6 our players plays in Italy (Škriniar in Inter and Kucka in Parma the most affected places..) every person comming from Italy must be quarantined for two weeks (and I doubt anyone of them will even travel to Slovakia, Inter is already quarantned...

Hamšík is playing in China (so due coronavirus he didn´t play a football game some months now...lol)

what a situation lol...from one of the contenders to qualify via this Play-Offs we dropped to a total no chance... If UEFA will not cancel the Play-Offs is better to abandon and fofeit the match against Ireland to avoid some embarassing debacle

and our federation officially sent a letter to UEFA with a request of postpone the match against :IRL arguing we are in a almost unsolvable situation after the new preventive measures in the country

I agree with the postponement. Even if the epidemic peaked by June (hopefully it will), due to still prevailing risks, fear factor, etc. the attendance figures would be down massively in every host country/city.

One of the argument in favor of hosting the Euros was that it is going to benefit tourism. Personally I would not want to see sparsely attended matches (like Qatar athletic Wch) in the brand new super-expensive stadium, even if (a big if) the conditions would allow the competition to be held in the original dates.Plus, the new dates would also allow fans in the Covid-19 risk groups to attend as well (I assume that even if the worst is over, those people who are in the risk groups will still have to be super vigilant)

So, look forward to Euro 2021 and hope that we will live to see it :d:cry:

Speaking as a football from :IRL I really hope we don't object to the request and I hope both games are postponed until more appropriate times

I think we can assume the official account of the Norwegian federation isn't spreading rumours, so there we go:

I don't think translation is needed to get what it says :p

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
