lol no when your challenge fails you lose a point. but he sent off because he entered the mat and didn't leave it after the first warning.

 

first tiebreaking criteria is the biggest score. for example 2 > 1+1 and in that case Bonne scored a 5 and Rashidov scored 1 five times. 5 > 1+1+1+1+1

the 2nd tiebreaking criteria is the number of cautions. the last score is the 3rd criteria

At least the last score means something, I didn't completely forget everything I learned during the Olympics

most people don't know that because most of the times it comes to the last score.

 

btw if you watch the scoreboard , when the score is tie they show a "line" under the score of the winner to show who is leading the match at the time. that's a good thing because in past we had some situations when after the end someone started celebrating but after a minute he was told "sorry you lost it" specially in high scoring matches (for example in case of 10-10) it's hard to remember who scored bigger points.

I actually noticed that already, and since in every fight I saw that was for the one who had the last score at that moment, I thought that was the only criterium

Last question, which I can't really find anywhere else because of spoilers and everything: the bronze medal fights are in the same session as the gold medal fights, and the repechage fights (before the bronze) are in the morning sessions, right?

Yes , current rules say

first day morning: Preliminary rounds up to quarterfinal

first day evening: semifinals

2nd day morning: repechage

2nd day evening: bronze and gold finals

 

this is not mandatory . still some minor tournaments use the old one day competition format (e.g. Asian Games) but all major tournaments will follow this  system

Greco semifinalists:

 

55kg: vs and vs

63kg; vs and vs

72kg: vs and vs

82kg: vs and vs

 

we had some funny unbelievable on-sided draws in freestyle and now we have the same in Greco. I'm starting to think if these draws are random or some UWW magicians are involved in this and I have some reasons to have doubt about this. some countries are exactly in the same position in the draw for 2-3 weights in the same day.

the most interesting part is about Hungary. they had two decent wrestlers today and both of them faced dream draw here. (just an accident ?) 72kg draw is more like a joke. Korpasi had to beat only Algeria and Brazil to reach the semifinal ! and even in the semis he will wrestle someone from Bulgaria with an Armenian name I never heard his name before. and the grandpa Bacsi not only had a dream draw but still he needed LOTS of helps from the refs to get through. he won all of his matches 2-1 !!! and I saw two of them only by cautions !!!

 

55kg draw is no better. but this time even Hungary is in the toughest part of the draw. this kid Azizli looks on fire and I don't think anybody can stop him from winning the gold. even though the Georgian wrestler is also pretty good . I hope Georgia wins since that will put our veteran wrestler into the repechage but that's unlikely. Naderi had his chances against Georgia he was leading 1-1 but gave up a big throw and lost it.

 

in 63, Hajipour lost the opportunity of his life for a medal. he was down 5-0 , had a great comeback made it 6-5 but then gave up a stupid takedown and got eliminated. interestingly we have an Egyptian wrestler in semifinal. but I believe Maryanyian will win the gold for Russia here. 63kg was the only weight today with a balanced bracket (even though the bottom half was a bit tougher)

 

72, Korpasi is already in the final with that dream draw (unless that Bulgrian guy surprises ) but the second semifinal is very interesting Chunayev vs Stabler. I feel sorry for Geraei, he had a tough draw and I believe he could be the winner against Chunayev. he was all over Chunayev in 2nd period but still they gave him the passivity caution !!! but well I'm getting used to this. Stabler also had a very tough draw. he beat Georgia, Russia and then Zhadrayev in a replay of last year final. I hope Chunayev wins to keep Geraei alive but even with that it will be hard to go through Inoue and Stabler for the bronze.

 

82, the biggest surprise came from Turkey with Emrah Kus beating the favorite Manukyan (who beat Russia earlier). Kus will face our Abdevali in the semis. I think Abdevali is our only realistic chance for the gold in the whole competiton. (we also have Nouri) I think Kus is a good matchup for Abdevali . but final against Bacsi and the refs will be hard.
