Recommended Posts

The Slovak Biathlon Association (SZB) has officially offered to the Ukrainian Biathlon Association the opportunity for athletes and their family members to live and train in the National Biathlon Center in Osrblie near Brezno.

SZB informed slovak press agency TASR in a press release. The association has a hostel within the complex with a capacity of 20 beds. Ukrainian athletes can train directly in the biathlon area. SZB President Peter Vozár spoke about this offer with the Ukrainian coach - Slovak Juraj Sanitra on Tuesday morning.

British Swimming have said they support a ban on Russia and Belarus from all aquatics competition and said it will be withdrawing from any events currently due to be held in Russia or Belarus.

That includes the 2022 Fina Short Course Championships and the 2024 European Championships that are both currently scheduled to be held in Kazan, Russia.

World Athletics has made a decision to exclude all Russian, Belarusian and ANA-athletes from Russia from World Athletics events for the foreseeable future.

Upcoming events includes:

- World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships 2022

- World Athletics Indoor Championships 2022

- World Athletics Championships 2022

I am really sorry for the innocent Russian athletes.

but I am also convinced it is the right thing to ban Russia (and Belarus) as it is one way to make the Russian public aware that something is going wrong.
There are still too many people in Russia not even aware that something is going on. Maybe they will notice when Rusdia is banned from all sporting events.

Or will just exacerbate nationalistic feelings while damaging athletes careers in the process. We'll see.

If international federations start banning national federations because of their national governments, there will be few countries left in world cups.

The South African boycott was different, because the national federation itself was racist.

Statement from ITF, WTA, ATP & four Grand Slam organizers. Nothing more can be done if you consider tennis is the most individual of all individual sports and basically all of the players' initial funding comes from their families or sponsors and not from any national boards.

I can’t see the UK Government letting Russians into the country to play in June.

Is it legally available and has there been any sing of a possible appeal to CAS from any of the "forbidden" russians? I guess it would be a risky move as the public opinion would be against them, but it would be interesting to see.

Absolutely disgusting ! Tennis should be kicked out of the Olympics.

Innocent Ukrainian civilians right now are killed in their country and russian tennis players will be allowed to play for big money at grand slams and so and even under their flag..
