Is it just me or does the scale of the invasion seem very small? I mean, for most of the day I just thought that we aren't getting information on what's happening, but maybe not much of actual significance happened besides the bombing? Either the Russian invasion is somehow failing or Putin wasn't lying when he called it a "special military operation" and this isn't a full scale invasion for now.

Ukraine is a big country so it might seem small. But considering they are getting invaded from the East, the North *and* the South, the whole incident just can't be classified under a "special operation".

Back in the 1980s it was my theory that the West could swiftly defuse any Russian invasion just by leaving crates of vodka & porn by the side of the road.  Worth a try now.

in 1968 our grandfathers turned the intersection directional signs on the roads and some russian tanks ended up in the lake

or like in this village several tanks ended struck in a narrow alley. The whole street from the square to the top of the forest, maybe a kilometer, was filled with a number of tanks and heavy vehicles. It was very difficult for the army, because turning and backing out in a narrow space was a problem and the soldiers, especially the commanders, were quite nervous about it. :p

I feel really sorry for the ukrainian people who did nothing to cause this. It might be justifiable for other countries not to get involved in the fight, but it makes me lose trust in our system even more when i see that western countries can't even agree on sanctions. I don't believe that this is the will of the normal people. I absolutely don't see why western nations can't just ban Russia from everything. Why still allow russian people to enter western nations? Why still allow russian companies to do business here? I understand that countries are somewhat dependant on russian gas, but this absolutely doesn't explain why they can't agree on sanctions that would barely be felt by their own people. It's not as if Russia is a super important market (considering that the russian GDP is just marginally bigger than the one of Australia).

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Looks like the most difficult day will be tadoay but the positive thing is that UKR not doing bad at all at the end, what a brave nation !. Agressors lost around 800 soldiers yesterday. :yes

Rumors going some already even laid down their arms themselves and surrendered voluntarily, this officier apologized, he was unaware they arrived here to kill Ukrainians, so surprisingly sometime you can find even a reasonable rusian...

Spoiler

    • Finals are set    An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
    • Yeah, it was clear. But i repeat, we need it? I think no.
    • GSOC HearingLife Tour Challenge Semifinals  Women  Team Fujisawa v.  Team Einarson  Team Lawes v.  Team Homan   Men  Team Mouat v.  Team McEwen  Team Dunstone v.  Team Gushue
    • In the past the ISU has now allowed countries without a Federation to compete.
    • yeah I know    I mean it wasn't a different team specific for that sport. it was the same CC team participating in both sports.
    • It is run by a different federation though
    • from what I heard , Iran has registered to participate in Alpine, CC skiing, SkiMo, Skating (they didn't mention which discipline ) and ... (this one will be surprising ) ... Curling    Curling is not a sure thing yet, the NOC has to approve it. the team is very new. I mean very very new, only few months ago they gathered few people to start the sport  you can't lose 100-0 in Curling, right ?    anyway it will be first time ever Iran participating outside of FIS disciplines. ( I didn't count Ski orienteering in 2011 which was the same as CC)   nobody cares about winter sports here. therefore finishing last won't have consequences. they can afford sending very weak teams. (which is not the case for the main Asian Games)
    • World Junior Championships ( Dushanbe)   Day #4 Medallists   women's -78kg Gold:  Brenda Olaya Silver:  Mathilda Sophie Niemeyer Bronze:  Eva Ronja Buddenkotte &  Dandara Camilo   women's +78kg Gold:  Lee Hyeon Ji Silver:  Celia Cancan Bronze:  Chihiro Yamaguchi &  Safa Soliman   men's -100kg Gold:  Mukhammadsodik Sodikov Silver:  Nozomu Miki Bronze:  Azhdar Baghirov &  Fares Mekhoukh   men's +100kg Gold:  Denis Batchaev Silver:  Kanan Nasibov Bronze:  Saba Kardava &  Ibrahim Tataroglu
    • 100 days to go until the first multi-sports games of the 2025
    • 11 medals out of 15 athletes. for whatever reason  we sent an incomplete team of 16 athletes (only 1 left for tomorrow) I wish I knew why  I can guess though   the result is indeed very good in such a competitive sport but lack of talent was never our problem in taekwondo. it was always there probably much more than any other country.    but the problem is the transition to the senior team. most of previous junior world champions never even made the senior team. (the new federation is doing better in this regard though)
